**[Share of voice](/blog/measure-share-of-voice/)** is your share of all brand mentions in the answers: your mentions divided by every brand mention in the same answers.

## How it's calculated

Count every brand named across the answers in the window, including you. Share of voice = your mentions ÷ all brand mentions.

**Worked example.** Across 10 answers, brands are named 40 times in total. You are named 6 times, Acme 14, Beta 10, and other brands 10.

- Your share of voice = 6 ÷ 40 = **15%**.
- Acme's = 14 ÷ 40 = 35%.

## Share of voice versus visibility

The two answer different questions:

- **Visibility**: *are* you named? Here you might be named in 6 of 10 answers, which is 60% visibility.
- **Share of voice**: how much of the conversation is *yours*? 15%, because every answer names several brands.

High visibility with low share of voice means you are in the conversation but crowded. It is common in categories where answers list many tools.

## Where to find it

- **Home**: the Share of voice tab, against the top brands AI names.
- **Competitors**: the **SoV** column for every brand.
- **Looker Studio**: the Share of Voice metric.
- **MCP**: `get_overview` and `get_competitors`.

## What moves it

Share of voice grows when you are named more often *and* rivals are named less. Comparison pages, listicles and review sites that include you alongside rivals raise your share; the Off-Page tasks target these.
