# Your first week on GetIntel

> What to look at on day 1, day 3 and day 7, when your scores become reliable, and the few things worth doing before then.

Your first scores arrive within about 10 minutes of starting, but they settle over the first week. GetIntel scores topics over a rolling 7-day window, so day 1 is a starting point, not a verdict.

## Day 1: get oriented

1. **Wait for the first scan.** About 10 minutes. It finds your competitors, asks each engine your buyer questions, scores your topics, reads the pages AI cites and builds your task list.
2. **Check your setup.** Open **Settings** and confirm your website and product description are right, and check your market in **Settings → Markets**. The market decides which country the questions are asked from and in which language. See [Common setup mistakes](/docs/academy/start-here/common-setup-mistakes/).
3. **Check your competitors.** Open **Competitors**. Remove any brand that isn't really a rival and add any that is missing.
4. **Look at Topics.** Note which topics you lead and which a rival leads. Don't act on small differences yet.

<Aside>
Day 1 numbers come from a single scan. One engine giving an unusual answer can move a topic noticeably, so treat them as a first look.

## Days 2 to 3: patterns appear

- **Daily scans add evidence.** Every engine is asked your questions again each day, and topic scores start averaging over more answers.
- **Tasks firm up.** A task appears once it is confirmed: seen on at least 2 days, or backed by at least 3 answers. Your task list grows and reorders in these first days.
- **Read a few answers.** Open **Prompts** and read what [ChatGPT](/chatgpt-visibility-tracker/) or Perplexity actually said for a question you care about. It makes the scores concrete.

## Days 4 to 7: start acting

- **Plan your week.** Open **Weekly plan** and choose **Plan my week**. It picks 2 On-Page, 2 Off-Page, 1 UGC and 1 Technical task.
- **Fix the technical basics first.** Anything in **Technical** that blocks an engine from reaching your pages limits every other effort.
- **Connect your coding agent** if you want fixes shipped from your editor. See [Connect over MCP](/docs/mcp/connect/).

## Day 7: your first reliable baseline

By day 7 every topic score rests on a full 7-day window. Note your topic scores and win rates now: this is the baseline to measure your work against.

## What runs on its own schedule

| What | How often |
| --- | --- |
| Buyer questions on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews | Daily |
| Claude (Growth) | Weekly, on Mondays |
| Brand perception | Weekly, on Mondays |
| Technical scan | Weekly, on Mondays |
| Reddit | Daily |
| AI crawlers (Cloudflare) | Hourly |

During the free trial, brand perception and Reddit run once rather than on a recurring schedule.
