# Client reporting

> How an agency reports AI visibility to a client: the monthly report, the shareable link, scheduling it so it sends itself, and how to keep the whole thing white label.

The month's work has to arrive as something a client can read on their own and check. That's what [Reports](/docs/features/reports/) is for — this page is the agency workflow around it.

## The monthly rhythm

<Steps>

1. **Set a client's report up once.** Open **Reports**, choose **Generate report → Scheduled**, pick monthly, choose the sections that client cares about, and send it to yourself.

2. **It builds itself** on the 1st, covering the month that just finished, and lands in your inbox with the PDF attached.

3. **Forward it to the client.** It leaves your mailbox, from your address — which is what keeps it white label.

4. **Or send them the link** instead, from the Reports page, if they'd rather read it in a browser than open an attachment.

</Steps>

## Why send it to yourself

The scheduled email can go straight to a client, but sending it to yourself first is the white-label route: forwarded from your own mailbox, it reaches them from your domain rather than ours.

The email body is written **to the client**, not to you, so forwarding takes no editing. It leads with the numbers in plain language and attaches the PDF.

## The link versus the PDF

Both come from the same build and say the same things.

| | PDF | Link |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Best for | Attaching, printing, filing | Reading on a phone, sending in a message |
| Sections | Every one you chose, one per page | The same, as a menu |
| AI answers | Quoted excerpts | **The full answer**, with every source it cited |
| Filtering | — | Search and filter the question set, sort the tables |
| Tells you it was opened | No | **Yes** |

The link is the one that answers "says who?" — a client can open any buyer question and read exactly what each engine said.

<Aside>
A shared link is frozen. The page is stored when the report is built, so a link you sent in July still shows July's numbers however long it sits in an inbox.
</Aside>

## Knowing whether it landed

Shared reports show an open count and when they were last opened, or **"Link not opened yet"**. It's a blunt signal, and a useful one: a client who never opens the report is a client who has stopped seeing the value of the retainer.

It tracks the **link**, not the email. Email open tracking is unreliable enough — mail clients pre-fetch images on the reader's behalf — that we'd rather show you nothing than a number that isn't real.

## Choosing sections per client

A pitch and a monthly check-in aren't the same document, so the section list is chosen per report and remembered per client.

- **A monthly**: where they stand, what changed, engine by engine, topics, the shortlist, receipts, what you fixed, what's next.
- **A pitch or a first review**: add the full question set, the citation gap, and what to fix — the evidence-heavy sections that show the gap rather than the movement.

## Revoking a link

**Unshare** on any report kills the link, and every copy of it already sent, at once.
