An engine shows "No answer"
Why GetIntel sometimes records No answer for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or AI Overviews, how it affects your visibility score, and when to worry.
No answer means GetIntel asked the engine but got nothing to read. It is recorded separately and left out of your scores, so it never counts as the engine ignoring you.
Common causes
Section titled “Common causes”| Cause | Engines | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Google showed no AI Overview for that search | Google AI Overviews | Nothing. Google doesn’t show an AI Overview for every search. |
| The engine failed or timed out | Any | Nothing. It is asked again in the next daily scan. |
| A temporary outage at the engine | Any | Usually clears within a day. |
How to check
Section titled “How to check”Open Prompts and filter by No answer. Look at which engine and which questions.
- Spread across engines and days: normal background noise.
- One engine, every question, several days: contact support so we can check that engine’s collection.
- Google AI Overviews on specific questions only: Google simply doesn’t show an Overview for those searches. Consider whether a different phrasing is closer to how buyers search.
